The Pembrokeshire Coast Path runs for 186 miles from St Dogmaels to Amroth, mostly along the cliff tops. You don't need to do it all. On St Brides Bay, a waymarked cliff walk of just under 5 miles heads west from the village, while to the north the path runs past Druidston and Nolton to the huge sands at Newgale.

Honestly, any time. Spring brings lambs and puffins, and summer is when properties fill up first. Autumn's the sweet spot for exploring, with quieter paths and the colours turning in the valleys. And winter? That's when a tub earns its keep, with frost on the decking, a fire indoors and long dark nights to relax and unwind under the stars.

Before you book, check a few things:

• Is the tub open all year? A few seaside cottages close it in winter.
• Wood-fired or electric? Wood-fired tubs can take a few hours to heat, while electric ones are ready when you arrive.
• Dogs: check the number allowed and whether the garden is enclosed, especially on working farms.
• Changeover days, as some only take Friday or Monday arrivals.
